How to Set Up IPTV on an LG Smart TV (webOS)

Have these ready first

• An LG webOS TV on your home network
• A free LG account, because the store may ask you to sign in before installing
• Your Xtream Codes details for login players, or your M3U link for device-ID players
• A phone or laptop if you choose a device-ID player

LG webOS setup, from store to first channel

1. Check the webOS version and update

   Press the gear button on the Magic Remote, then go to All Settings > Support > TV Information to see the webOS TV version. Older sets keep it under General > About This TV. From the same Support menu, run Software Update before installing anything.

2. Open the LG Content Store

   Press the house-shaped Home button and select Apps; older models label the tile LG Content Store. Aim the pointer at the magnifying glass at the top of the screen and click the scroll wheel.

3. Search for a login player first

   Look up IPTV Smarters. Typing your login straight on the TV avoids any website step. If it is not offered on your TV, search Smart IPTV, Hot IPTV or IBO Player, which pair through a website. Read the developer name on the app page to dodge imitations.

4. Install and launch

   Click Install. If a sign-in box appears, enter your LG account or create one on the spot. Once the button changes to Launch, open the player and accept its terms.

5. Login players: enter your Xtream Codes details

   IPTV Smarters opens on a list of sign-in methods: pick the Xtream Codes API option. Call the profile Basement TV or anything you like, then copy over the three fields from your King IPTV email. Aiming the pointer at each key and clicking the wheel beats the arrow keys. Confirm with Add User; labels shift slightly between versions.

6. Device-ID players: pair the code online

   Device-ID players display a code on their opening screen. Smart IPTV, for example, has shown a device ID rather than a MAC address on webOS since its version 3.0.0. On your phone, open the player's official upload page, enter that code, paste your King IPTV M3U link and save. Back on the TV, close the player with the Back button and launch it again.

7. Watch a few channels

   The first load can take two minutes. Open a group on the left, pick a channel, and press the guide option to see what plays next.

8. Pin the player to the launcher bar

   Press Home, hover over the player, and hold the wheel until edit mode starts. Slide it near the left end of the bar and click to drop it. After that it is two clicks from switching on the TV.

Which LG Content Store player should you pick?

IPTV Smarters is the easiest LG player when it appears, and Smart IPTV is the long-standing alternative when it does not. Listings vary between countries, so the US store may show apps the Canadian one lacks.

webOS version tips for older and newer LG TVs

Newer webOS handles IPTV better: versions from webOS 22 onward load large guides and 4K streams more smoothly than the 2014 to 2017 sets. Under LG's webOS Re:New program, many 2022 and later models receive yearly system upgrades, and LG has kept extending that list. On webOS 3 or 4, a full list of 50,000+ channels can feel heavy, so ask us to move your line to English Channels Only, a shorter list.

Fixing common LG IPTV problems

• "Invalid username or password" in Smarters. The server URL needs http:// and the port. Watch for an automatic capital at the start of the username.
• Device ID not recognised online. Launch the player once before pairing. A factory reset of the TV can create a new ID.

When a streaming stick beats the LG apps

A stick wins when your LG runs webOS 4 or older, when your preferred player is missing, or when you want TiviMate's grid guide.
