IPTV in Winnipeg, answered quickly

Yes, IPTV is a sensible way to cut the TV bill in Winnipeg, as long as your home has a steady wired internet connection. King IPTV delivers 50,000+ live channels and 190,000+ movies and series over Bell MTS fibre, Rogers cable or an independent provider's line. The 12-month plan costs $79 CAD for one screen, about $6.58 a month, paid once by Interac e-Transfer.

There is no contract, no rented box and no automatic renewal. The TV guide runs on Central time once your device is set to it, and the list has Filipino (Tagalog) and French groups. Check all of it first with a 24-hour free trial on your own TV.

How much does IPTV cost a Winnipeg household?

One screen costs $19 for a month, $29 for three months, $49 for six months or $79 for a year, all in Canadian dollars. Most budget-minded homes take the yearly plan, because the monthly cost drops to about $6.58 and there is nothing more to pay until next year.

King IPTV prices in CAD, paid once
Plan1 screen2 screens3 screens
1 Month$19$29$39
3 Months$29$49$69
6 Months$49$79$109
12 Months$79$129$179

A few things keep the cost predictable:

  • You pay once by Interac e-Transfer. Nothing renews on its own, so a plan you forgot about never charges you again.
  • There is no equipment to rent. A Smart TV app, a Fire TV Stick you already own or a phone is enough.
  • New customers are covered by a 7-day refund policy.

To compare with what you pay now, write down your monthly TV costs, including box rentals and fees, then read our IPTV vs cable cost breakdown. Every screen count is on the subscription page.

When do games and shows start on Central time?

One hour earlier than in Toronto, which makes most evenings easy. A 7 p.m. Eastern puck drop is 6 p.m. here, around supper. Games that start at 7 p.m. in Vancouver begin at 9 p.m. in Winnipeg and wrap up before midnight, and Jets home games at 7 p.m. local start at 8 p.m. out east.

Two Prairie quirks are worth knowing:

  • Saskatchewan does not change its clocks. Relatives in Regina or Saskatoon share Winnipeg's time in winter but sit an hour behind from March to November. If you plan to watch a game "together" over a video call, check the date.
  • The guide follows your device. A box set to Eastern or Saskatchewan time shows every listing an hour off. Choose Central time (Winnipeg) in the device settings and reopen the player app.

Most player apps also have a setting that shifts the whole guide by a fixed number of hours, which helps if one channel's listings are still off. If you use TiviMate, our TiviMate setup guide walks through the app screen by screen.

Bell MTS, Rogers or an independent: which internet works?

All of them work when the line is wired and steady. Bell bought MTS, Manitoba's former phone company, in 2017, and Bell MTS now sells fibre to a large share of Winnipeg homes. Rogers took over Shaw's cable network in 2023 and is the main cable option. Several independent providers rent capacity on those networks and often charge less for plans that are still fast enough for TV.

For IPTV a modest plan is usually fine. Each Full HD stream uses about 10 Mbps, so a 75 Mbps plan handles two or three TVs plus phones. Spend money on a cable to the main TV before you spend it on a faster tier.

Outside the Perimeter the picture changes. Many rural Manitoba homes rely on fixed wireless or satellite service from companies such as Xplore. If your plan has a monthly data limit, IPTV is a poor fit: an HD channel can use a few gigabytes an hour, and a month of evening TV would eat through most caps. Unlimited plans with steady speed can work, so run the free trial during your normal viewing hours before paying. Our speed guide for IPTV in Canada shows how to test.

Setting up for a minus-30 Winnipeg winter

Sort out the setup in the fall, because January is no month to troubleshoot Wi-Fi. Winnipeg's January average sits around -15°C, and cold snaps with wind chills in the minus 30s or 40s keep people home for days at a time.

A short pre-winter checklist:

  • Plug the main TV or streaming box into the router with an Ethernet cable. Cold-snap evenings are when the whole street is online.
  • Add favourites in the player app: local news, the weather and your family's channels, so nobody scrolls through thousands of entries.
  • Decide on screens. If two people watch different things most nights, two screens for a year cost $129.
  • Save the Live Chat link. Support runs every day from 9 a.m. to midnight Eastern, which is 8 a.m. to 11 p.m. in Winnipeg.

Winter is festival season too. Festival du Voyageur fills Saint-Boniface every February, and for the nights you stay in, the on-demand library has 190,000+ movies and series ready to play. Look for local news in the "Winnipeg, Regina and Saskatoon locals" group.

Filipino channels in Canada's most Filipino city

The Filipino (Tagalog) group in the Full Channels package is the first stop for many Winnipeg homes. Toronto has more Filipino residents overall, but Statistics Canada reports that just over 1 in 10 Winnipeggers said they were Filipino in the 2021 census, the highest share of any Canadian city (Statistics Canada). The community goes back decades, with deep roots in the West End and the Maples and many families who arrived more recently.

Practical notes for Filipino households:

  • Time difference. Manila is 13 hours ahead of Winnipeg in summer and 14 in winter. Morning shows from Manila air during your evening, and evening programs land in the middle of the night here. Catch-up, on channels that support it, handles that.
  • Grandparents and kids on one plan. Lola watches in Tagalog while the kids watch cartoons in English: that is a 2-screen plan.
  • Check your favourites. Search the channel list or ask in Live Chat during the trial for the exact channels you follow, since line-ups change over time.

Indigenous and francophone viewers in Winnipeg

Winnipeg has the largest Indigenous population of any Canadian city: more than 100,000 First Nations, Métis and Inuit people in the 2021 census, about one resident in eight (CBC report on the census). There is no separate Indigenous category in our list, so look in the Canadian national and local groups for Indigenous programming and news, and ask in Live Chat if you want us to check a specific channel before you buy.

Saint-Boniface, across the Red River from The Forks, is the heart of French-speaking Manitoba, with the Université de Saint-Boniface and the Centre culturel franco-manitobain. Many Métis families trace their roots to the same riverbanks. For francophone homes, the French groups in Full Channels cover Quebec news, variety and téléromans, French-language sports and children's channels, and Live Chat answers in French every day.

Questions

IPTV Winnipeg: your questions

What is the cheapest way to get IPTV in Winnipeg?

The 12-month plan for one screen at $79 CAD, which works out to about $6.58 a month. You pay once by Interac e-Transfer, there is no box to rent, and the plan does not renew by itself. If you want to test the waters first, one month costs $19, and the free 24-hour trial costs nothing.

Does King IPTV work on Bell MTS internet?

Yes. IPTV runs over any steady internet connection, and Bell MTS fibre is well above the roughly 10 Mbps each Full HD stream needs. It also works on Rogers cable and on independent providers in the city. For the steadiest picture, connect the main TV with an Ethernet cable and test with the free trial in the evening.

Can I watch Jets and Blue Bombers games on IPTV?

Jets games are split between a regional sports channel and national broadcasts, and Blue Bombers games air with the CFL's national TV partner. King IPTV lists Canadian sports networks in English and French by category, but we do not promise any single game, since rights change each season. Run the free trial on a game night to see it for yourself.

Are there Tagalog channels for Filipino families in Winnipeg?

Yes. The Full Channels package includes a Filipino (Tagalog) group, which the English Channels Only package leaves out. Manila is 13 to 14 hours ahead of Winnipeg, so catch-up on supported channels helps with shows that air overnight here. Line-ups change over time, so check for your favourite channels during the free trial or ask in Live Chat.

Is IPTV a good choice in rural Manitoba?

Only if your internet is steady and has no tight data cap. Fixed wireless and satellite plans with monthly limits are a poor fit, because an HD channel can use a few gigabytes an hour. Unlimited plans with at least 10 to 15 Mbps per TV can work. Run the free trial at the hours you normally watch before you buy anything.

Can I get help in French from Saint-Boniface?

Yes. Live Chat support works in English and French every day from 9 a.m. to midnight Eastern, which is 8 a.m. to 11 p.m. in Winnipeg, and you can also write to help@supportiptv.ca. Ask for setup steps in French and the team will answer in French, including the menu names in the player app.
